Teaching Features

The school combines the strengths and faculty of its vocational department attached to the senior high school to develop two required school-based courses: "Detailed Introduction to Zhongshan North Road" and "Brief Introduction to Makers", aiming to cultivate students with cultural literacy and technological development skills. "Detailed Introduction to Zhongshan North Road", this interdisciplinary course helps students understand the historical and cultural significance of major tourist attractions along Zhongshan North Road. It also enables them to communicate and convey local cultural features in English. " Brief Introduction to Makers", this hands-on course incorporates theoretical foundations with practical activities, covering topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT), woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting, and art creation concepts. Using the school's existing equipment and specialized art classrooms, along with computer-aided design software, the course encourages students to develop creative thinking across different fields and trains them in innovation and creation.

Starting from the 2022 school year, the school introduced foreign teachers to conduct flexible courses in Practical English and Music as part of a trial bilingual education program. This initiative aims to develop students' abilities and habits for self-directed and lifelong learning in English. The program begins with bilingual instruction in music classes, moving beyond the traditional classroom and textbook framework. The goal is to make English learning not just a classroom language, but something students can acquire from everyday life and apply in their daily experiences. As students expand their life experiences, they also gain a broader understanding of the world. More importantly, through music—an international language shared by all—students learn to respect and appreciate different cultures and peoples, enhancing their ability to engage internationally and fostering a global perspective.

The school's flexible learning time is designed to develop school-specific features and align with students' academic pathways. It is coordinated with school development, student needs, curriculum planning, scheduling, and teacher assignments. Some courses incorporate teaching resources from strategic partner universities, such as Tatung University, using a thematic and modular micro-course approach.  The general schedule follows a principle of three class sessions per week.  Grade 10: Courses focus on cultivating the quality of Tatung students. Grade 11: Courses focus on independent learning activities for the entire school.  Grade 12: Courses are tailored to the specific needs of each academic or vocational group, offering supplementary teaching for college entrance exams or career development courses that broaden and enhance students' skills.  Additionally, special training programs are offered for students representing the school in national or international competitions (such as science fairs).
